The fabrication of
bespoke pond liners allows for greater design flexibility when creating anything from humble to very complex landscaping ideas that incorporates a water feature. The most obvious situation in which a square pond is suited is the central point of a traditional style flower garden surrounded by a tiled or brick edging and then by flower beds filled with roses, perennials or herbs.
The other possibility for a square pond is to install it beside a patio as an eye-catching feature with a wide variety of decorative plants around it. This type of pond is designed to be viewed from close-up and any imperfections are likely to be noticed.
The third possible position for a square pond is at the far end of a grass path, with distinctly shaped aquatic plants in it.
A square pond needs to be seen from a fairly close distance otherwise they look narrower than they are and take on a rectangular shape. Place a few tall accent plants behind the pond and attractive foliage plants to hang over the side. Also consider adding evergreens with a rounded growth to contrast with the square shape of the pond as well as delicate foliage plants to soften the outlines.
When planting in and around a square shaped pond, consider what it will look like in all seasons particularly winter. Planting evergreens will ensure that the pond will not lose its allure even during the middle of winter.
Because a
square pond is best seen from close-up, any imperfections in its construction would be noticed. To avoid this, install a bespoke pond liner, also referred to as a
box-welded pond liner, which will be free of creases and folds. This type of
bespoke pond liner is fabricated from Butyl or Epalyn (EPDM) rubber, which are high quality materials displaying superior durability, UV resistance and tear resistant properties.
