Automatic fire sprinkler systems have been an essential feature of industrial fire protection systems over the past one-hundred and fifty years. They are proven to be efficient in controlling and extinguishing fires to protect the lives of people, properties and its contents. They restrict fires spreading and protect escape routes. An essential part of fire protection is the guaranteed water supply. Water can be directed from a local mains water supply or, more reliably by having water stored in a tank and delivered via a pump to the buildings sprinkler system.
Water storage tanks tend to be sited at commercial properties and are generally installed within five meters of the building but they can also be installed under roof. They need to be robust and require as little maintenance as possible to limit any risk of having to cut-off the water supply to repair or replace a damaged or faulty tank. By lining water tanks with a synthetic rubber liner such as EPDM or Butyl will protect the tank shell and exclude contaminants entering the water, which could then lead to the clogging-up of the pipes leading into the sprinkler system. Lining a tank is critical to its longevity by protecting it from the onset of corrosion via forming a barrier between the water and shell of the tank.
Tank liners are a cost effective solution for the refurbishment of existing steel and concrete storage tanks.
Fire water storage tanks should be inspected, maintained and tested to ensure adequate water supply available in the event of a fire.
Russetts Developments offers fire protection water storage tank sealing with EPDM tank liner membrane and protective Geotextile liner installed to protect the liner from damage. We provide liners for the following types of tanks:
- Aluminum / Galvanized cylindrical bolted panel sprinkler and potable water storage tanks.
- Elevated rectangular sectional GRP/pressed steel tanks.
- Shaped concrete above and below ground basement tanks.
- WRC approved drinking water tanks.
